As a teacher, I often find myself with the opportunity to lead my students in prayer.
This is an amazing responsibility that I take very seriously. After all, prayer is not something that can be done without thought.
It is a duty not to be taken lightly.
As a teacher, it is my job to set an example for my students. As a Christian, it is my duty to pray in ways that are becoming of Christ’s Church. It is the duty of every Christian to give thanks to God for all things at all times.
This was clearly stated in Paul’s letter to the Thessalonians: “In everything give thanks,” (I Thess. 5:18a).
I believe that if we pour out our hearts to God in prayer, God will pour out His grace upon us.
That is why I pray at the beginning and end of each class that my students may be blessed with God’s wisdom, knowledge, understanding, and joy.
In this article, you’ll find some opening prayers for class and closing prayers that I’ve prayed in my classroom. These are simple prayer requests, which are always appropriate for praying in front of students.
After all, the Christian faith knows no age limits. You are free to print and copy these prayers and use them in your classrooms. You can also edit them to fit your own needs.
